Environmental Initiatives

In its unwavering commitment to sustainability, Juniper Hotels has taken significant steps to reduce its carbon footprint and promote eco-friendly practices in both the development and operation of its properties.

LEED CERTIFICATION

Andaz Delhi, Hyatt Regency Ahmedabad, Hyatt Raipur and Hyatt Place Hampi were built with Gold LEED Certification reflecting the company’s dedication to responsible design and construction.

USE OF RENEWABLE SOURCES OF ENERGY

Use of renewable energy is a cornerstone in JHL’s sustainability efforts. Andaz Delhi and Hyatt Delhi Residences rely on hydropower for 60% of their energy requirement, supplemented by an additional 2% from solar modules on-site.

Since 2012, Grand Hyatt Mumbai has harnessed wind energy from its 2 MW turbine in Sangali, Maharashtra, providing for 13% of the hotel’s total energy consumption.

ENERGY CONSERVATION

Energy-saving initiatives at each of the properties include regular upgrades and optimization through installation of motion sensors, replacing halogen lighting with energy-efficient LEDs, introduction of in-room systems that optimize light and air conditioning usage in vacant rooms, all collectively contributing to a greener operational footprint.

WASTE REDUCTION

Juniper Hotels’ dedication to waste reduction is evident through efforts to eliminate single-use plastic products like water bottles, straws and cutlery thus working towards promoting a circular economy.

In-house water bottling plants at Grand Hyatt Mumbai, Andaz Delhi and Hyatt Delhi Residences that wash, sterilize and re-fill glass bottles with safe drinking water, not only reduce plastic use but also cut down carbon emissions involved in transporting water bottles to the hotels. This initiative is estimated to eliminate the use of over a million plastic bottles annually.

RECYCLING AND WATER MANAGEMENT

Long-term initiatives towards at-source waste segregation, composting, rainwater harvesting and water treatment, promote responsible conservation, disposal and reuse of waste at each property.

Grand Hyatt Mumbai, Andaz Delhi, Hyatt Regency Ahmedabad and Hyatt Regency Lucknow have zero discharge plans with installation of STPs to treat and recycle wastewater for use in cooling towers and horticulture.

SUSTAINABLE SOURCING

Juniper Hotels has taken significant steps towards sustainable sourcing, promoting local economies and reducing carbon emissions from long-haul transportation of materials and produce.

Annamaya restaurant at Andaz Delhi champions this ethos by using artisanal, seasonal and local produce. Embracing the farm-to-fork concept, Hyatt Place Hampi’s kitchen garden underscores its dedication to locally-sourced produce and sustainable living.

By seamlessly blending innovation, engagement and accountability across its properties, Juniper Hotels showcases a transformative model for the hospitality sector and beyond.
